33 Lesson Modern & Traditional Acupuncture Program on Disc
Over twelve hundred pages of printed materials incorporating applicable materials from the supplementary textbook (An Outline of Chinese Acupuncture) and set of four charts (by China Cultural Corp.). Starts off assuming you know nothing about acupuncture (a good place to start even if only as a thorough review of the basics) and takes you right through to the most heavy-duty advanced aspects of true, ‘energetical’ acupuncture. The finest and most comprehensive material in the English language, covers all seventy-one meridians of traditional acupuncture; that ‘missing sixty percent’ of acupuncture knowledge most “acupuncturists” have never even heard of; and, the modern electronic ‘needle-less’ treatment methods (Electro-Acupoint Therapy) now so popular.
Over 3,000 students were originally enrolled in this famous Extension Training Program, and the OICS graduate listings read like a “Who’s Who of Acupuncture” in the English speaking world. This program takes you as far as anyone possibly can in a ‘written’ format prior to the clinical finesse and practicum needed to round out your acupuncture study to professional levels.
Development of thisModern & Traditional Acpuncture ProgramOccidental Institute opened its doors in 1972 in a small warehouse/office unit in Weston, Ontario Canada as an acupuncture “school” and training organization. Drawing on the genius and research abilities of our founder Dr. Walter D. Sturm, a 31 Lesson “home study” style training program in Modern and Traditional Acupuncture was developed and published. Even though it has formed the basic curriculum of several resident training Acupuncture Schools over the years (including our own), to date that program has only been available in printed format. Working from old manually typed (yes, on a typewriter!) masters we laboriously photocopied and printed copies of this more than 1,200 page program. But now the entire program (including the two published CEU Lessons #32 and #33) are available in digital format. Each paper “master copy” has been electronically scanned and then carefully proofread and re-formatted. Details and references have been checked, and new pictures and diagrams designed and incorporated. All thirty-three Lessons are now available on disc in PDF format. Information can be easily located through the Adobe/PDF search engines making the core materials much more accessible and easier to study. All textbook references [original edition out of print] have been incorporated into the Lessons as well as all charts. Recommendations on how to obtain current texts, equipment and charts are provided. Development of these materials was based on literature available at that time usually only in Asian and European languages. For his research and development, Dr. Sturm was able to access and utilize materials available in seven languages including English, German, French, Italian, Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese. I was personally involved with a lot of the initial French language translation work based on publications from the French and Vietnamese masters (such as Dr. A. Chamfrault, Dr. G. Fisch and Dr. Nguyen Van Nghi). Supported by a unique and practically experienced staff, final publication of these materials was completed in the mid-1980’s. In recent months after proofreading and formatting these materials for the digitization process, I remain amazed at the scope and presentation of these materials. Without a doubt, this Modern & Traditional Acupuncture program remains – to this day! – themost comprehensive text on the subject in English. Dr. Sturm’s innate ability to research, comprehend and apply detailed information combined with his remarkable teaching skills has given us a practical look into the often esoteric traditional acupuncture philosophy and methodology from the viewpoint of an Occidental (or Western) practitioner. Who will benefit from study of this program? Well . . .
I can think of so many reasons and I highly recommend these materials – especially now available in digital format – for all practitioners of Biological Medicine. Regardless of your background as acupuncturist, naturopath, chiropractor, physician, dentist, homeopath or health practitioner, you will find explanation, background and support for your experience, and a deeper understanding of healing and of caring for our patients. |

“Master of Acupuncture” Translations on Disc
The “MASTER OF ACUPUNCTURE” Program is a self-study program for advanced acupuncture practitioners, based on a translation of three classical Chinese acupuncture texts (namely the Su Wen, Ling Shu and Nan Ching). These materials assume extensive background in energetical acupuncture and work at master’s level.
Two thousand years ago, a group of outstanding physicians in China felt the need to record for posterity the experience and knowledge of acupuncture and Chinese medicine that had accumulated up to that time. The format of their record was a book (The Nei Ching or Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine) written primarily in the manner of a conversation between the legendary Yellow Emperor (Huang Ti) and his personal physician and advisor (Chi Po). This book is divided into two parts—the Su Wen and Ling Shu – both with eighty-one chapters apiece. The Su Wen portion presents the essential theory of internal medicine such as the energetical physiology, pathogenesis and pathology. The Ling Shu covers the practical aspects of Chinese medicine and develops the different therapeutical principles of acupuncture and moxibustion. The Nei Ching (Su Wen and Ling Shu together) forms the foundation for the practice of traditional acupuncture and is still the most authoritative reference book and teaching text in China on the subject. This book remains highly relevant today as well as for the future, and its valuable principles have almost unlimited application in clinical practice, making its study essential. Very few, if any, traditional acupuncturists would dare to challenge the basic contents of this celebrated two thousand year old book to this very day.
The Nan Ching, or “Difficult Classic” as it is often called, is an explanation of some of the more difficult to understand passages of the Nei Ching, and thus we feel it is of great assistance in the study of the Su Wen and Ling Shu translations. Attributed to the famous Chinese physician, Pien Ch’iao, and dated by many authorities around the third century B.C., it covers some of the most difficult problems of acupuncture, which were not answered in the Nei Ching itself. It consists of six sections, with a total of 81 chapters (or questions posed and then answered); concerning diagnosis, meridians, energetical physiology and pathology, acupuncture points, techniques, and treatment. It is almost a necessity for complete comprehension of the Nei Ching by independent study, and simply had to be made available in English as well.
Throughout the years, the Institute has spent a king’s ransom obtaining several complete copies and editions of both the Su Wen and Ling Shu portions of the ancient Nei Ching, and one edition of the classic Nan Ching. Translation and redaction of all texts completed by OICSAA staff. We realize this program will only be of interest to a select few of you, but recognize that books which have looked after the health of a quarter of the world’s people for two thousand years, simply cannot be ignored.
NOTE: Price includes translated materials only. It does NOT include binders, nor any tutorial, examination or certification privileges.
EAV Desk Reference Manuals, Part I and II on Disc (PDF)
German Electro-Acupuncture (“Voll”/”EAV”/EAP/GEA/EDS)
Here is the standard information for this program. But what’s new? Esther Treitl of our staff has worked on this manual as an ongoing project for almost three years. Every page, point and detail has been carefully scanned, reviewed, edited and revised. Newer and better diagrams have been prepared so that points are shown more clearly and precisely. Everything has been reformatted into 21st century data files (no more trying to replace old typewritten masters!).
All of these files are now available in PDF format, which means you will be able to use standard Adobe search engines to locate information and diagrams! This entire two part manual is available on CD. You can order a printed copy or the disc for the same price.
Between early 1978 and mid-1981, the research staff of the OICS Alumni Association planned, researched and made available to its Members a comprehensive, yet simplified “EAV” Program. This program sought to obviate the necessity for meticulous study of Dr. Voll’s actual textbooks and attendance at the previous Voll EAV [Electro-Acupuncture according to Voll] seminars. Indeed, the latter approach is reserved for the fortunate few who have had the time, resources and foresight to do so. Many practitioners, having purchased the Voll textbooks and/or attended one or more EAV seminars, have become dismayed as to how to apply all this information clinically.
For these reasons, it was our intention to produce an organized, refined, yet simplified EAV ‘Desk Reference Manual’ which would encompass all of the following:
Reorganization of the point location system involved, including comparison between the EAV and classical acupuncture points [as many have discovered, the majority of EAV points do not correspond to classical locations];
Converting, as much as possible, the EAV point locations and designations into anatomical terms consistent with the American Gray’s Anatomy, circumventing the Basel nomenclature used extensively in Dr. Voll’s texts; and,
Notes and commentaries on the energetic correspondencies (i.e. Homeopathic remedies, Disorders, Diagnosis) in each point section to facilitate swift learning and application of the EAV system in clinical practice.
Having culled with a fine-tooth comb all English and many German texts on EAV, and attended or reviewed tapes or transcripts of every EAV presentation ever held in the U.S. to that point, the user of this 500 page Desk Reference Manual can be assured of receiving the finest and most complete EAV information package available in the English language.
About Part I
PART I of this two volume work was published in 1981, and has become the practitioners’ “bible” of EAV (if you have tried working clinically with Dr. Voll’s texts you will really appreciate the concept and function of this monumental 500 page Manual). First of all, each page of the Manual has a separate diagram showing the exact location of one EAV point, along with a verbal description of its location. Beyond this (by going through all English and much German language EAV literature, as well as transcripts of every EAV seminar or lecture previously held on this continent), the energetic relations, usually treated disorders, commonly tested medications and often special comments, point measurement hints or cross-reference diagnostic information, has all been compiled in that Manual under the appropriate points.
Furthermore, all of the EAV points are given by sections according to their respective organ or tissue system ‘categories’, to facilitate clinical usefulness in diagnosis and treatment. The Manual is printed in a loose-leaf format for easier accessibility. Over one year of solid research and preparation went into this volume alone, funded by a pre-publication offer for OICS Alumni Association Members and ‘EAV’ friends.
About Part II
In addition to the above, which constitutes ‘Part I’ of the project, a separate section (Part II) contains two full transcripts of important EAV Seminars as introductory materials (including relevant technical information on EAV, med testing, and instrumentation). Part II alone has over 400 pages, and will suffice to introduce EAV to those who are new to it, or have been unable to attend previous U.S. EAV teaching seminars.
NOTE: Price includes Part I and II on CD only. It does not include printed materials, binders, nor any tutorial, examination or certification privileges.
EAV Mini-Manual for Point and Medication Testing (PDF)
I am pleased to announce the introduction of a new publication for those learning the EAV-type point and medication testing methods. What I have called the “EAV Mini-Manual” is a careful and precise compilation of the information that is used in the traditional EAV measurement approach using the distal (or Ting) points.
Then, to reflect the more modern approaches used for example by Dr. Simon Yu in his Acupuncture Meridian Assessment method, the same detailed information is organized for each Control Measurement Point (CMP) and a few of the Extra Points of Dr. Voll and Dr. Yu.
This Manual focuses on the location and measurement technique of each distal and control measurement point of EAV/AMA to aid in learning the physical point and medication testing technique. It will be listed on our “Publications” page of the P2P website shortly along with a more detailed description.
SPECIAL: EAV Mini-Manual plus Point and Medication Testing Report (PDF)

Theory and Practice of Bio-Electronic Terrain, by Roujon & Mahr
“Practical Foundation and Usage of
Bio-Electronic Terrain Analysis Method”
by Lucien Roujon and Peter Mahr
A short history and introduction to Bio-Electronic Terrain Analysis of Prof. Louis-Claude Vincent and Dr. Franz Morell. This book will become the core “textbook” for those working with BEV / BE-T-A in their practice. Well laid out with relatively good translations (from French and German) these books provide a short history as well as basic application information. Both in one trade paperback with 76 pages and illustrations.
Rather vague notions about “being in good health” and “Biological Terrain” can be given a very strict, scientific definition. This led to the discovery that homeostasis cannot be taken for granted by anyone living in the “Western World” – not even those in apparent good health. This discovery alone has the most profound implications for almost all avenues of medicine.
Each (pre)pathological condition seems to affect the Biological Terrain (homeostasis) in a particular way. Furthermore, corrections to the Biological Terrain seem to clearly help the body recover far better from existing pathological conditions. Therefore, the way is now clear for a new health assessment / disease prevention / disease alleviation science with can be used to increase the effectiveness of all other therapeutic approaches and optimize health. Even sporting performance and anti-aging procedures can be optimized.
Of all the imbalances found by Biological Terrain investigations the most startling has been the ubiquitous (yet seemingly unrecognized) relative lack of available electrons in the blood, caused by “civilized living”.
“Electron activity” that is only a fraction of that required is a very severe burden on the body and seems to be a major contributing factor in the development and continuation of numerous pathological conditions. There are many other balances / imbalances and interrelationships of profound importance that are revealed by this most useful and practical core of medical discipline.
Each reader will see in this book many new, key points immediately relevant to their own particular methods and thoughts.
Past, Present and Future, A History of Point and Medication Testing, by Carolyn Winsor
“Past, Present and Future,
A History of Point and Medication Testing”
by Carolyn Winsor
This is a carefully researched and accurate history of the basic point measurement techniques. Based on the ancient acupuncture meridians and points, moving forward through from the early 1800’s and then into modern day applications, follow the longstanding documented history of our current point and medication testing methods.
Again: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” (George Santayana – 1905). In a 1948 speech to the House of Commons, Sir Winston Churchill changed the quote slightly when he paraphrased it: “Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.”
Balance --> Resonance --> BioResonance, by Carolyn Winsor
“Balance –> Resonance –> BioResonance”
by Carolyn Winsor
This report was initially prepared as a lecture presentation and later reformatted for publication. In watching the developments and ongoing research related to the field of Biological Medicine, it was clear that we were sliding down into ever smaller, ever deeper, ever more minutiae and detailed explanations. Although these “scientific” and “technical” descriptions are necessary in many ways, we must be careful to maintain a clear understanding and view of the basic concepts of energy. Here is a clearly laid out overview of the concepts of energy balance and resonance. These are the foundation stones of all our work with Biological Medicine. Only with this basic understanding can we move forward to the minutiae!
Special Report on the LM Potencies of Dr. Hahnemann (Homeopathy)
This fifty-one page special confidential report was published in early 2000 for Affiliates (Members) only but is now available to everyone.
In this report you will learn how to use them and why Dr. Hahnemann gave up on Centesimal (1:100) prescribing, switching entirely to LM (1:50,000 from 10 to 30) potencies during the last eight years of his homeopathic practice in Paris. Indeed, he called LM’s the “most perfect dynamizations” in the final revision of his Organon of Medicine.
This is pivotal information for all homeopaths. This knowledge was suppressed for nearly 80 years and revolutionized the practice of homeopathy when that famous 6th edition of his Organon of Medicinewas finally published. Read the story and benefit from the meticulous research and translation done by Dr. Walter D. Sturm.
Medication Testing Report (“EAV” point and medication testing)
One of the main problems with learning “EAV” testing (not just the “fudging and faking” so many practitioners are currently fooling themselves with) is finding concise information on proper technique. This report is a translation of Dr. Kramer’s full medication testing guidelines from beginning to highly advanced aspects. Dr. Kramer has given us the most complete, step-by-step guidelines for learning medication testing on your own based on his seventeen years of practice and teaching, as well as suggested the preparations to start with (recommendation on how to order a set of those preparations for yourself are included within the report). If you follow all of the report instructions, you will learn how to do medication testing by yourself, easily, quickly and correctly. If not, something is wrong with your Electro-Acupuncture instrument – not you! |
An advantage for those just learning:
-
Step-by-step instructions for learning med-testing on your own; following them you will learn how to do it.
Some advantages for those who know how:
-
Refine your med-test technique; confirm you are doing it right.
-
Complete details on how to easily establish “ideal value” for each individual patient which you will find can range anywhere from forty-two to over fifty. Learn to do it on yourself first.
-
Using the individual’s own ideal value in therapy helps you do the job easier, and with much better therapeutic results. Not only that, it makes selection of remedies clearer, and requires fewer medications. Patients get well much quicker working with true biological balance, instead of a fixed “50” for every person.
-
They are going to have to re-write the EAV textbooks on this aspect very soon–too many German practitioners are proving the efficacy of this to themselves for “50” to remain dogma.

Transliterations of Chinese Acupuncture Point Names (Acupuncture)
Encore publications: During the “lazy” summer days and weeks of 2014 it was an interesting journey for me to look back at the many publications, articles and reports that were prepared by our founder Dr. Walter Sturm. Once again I was awed by the scope, quality and depth of information that he seemed able to bring together in a cohesive and easily understandable format. In our ongoing efforts to bring all of this amazing information into “modern” formats and accessibility, I worked on five different reports that are now available in digital (PDF) format (and we can now recycle all that old printed paper stored in the shed!). Support your Institute and add these excellent reports to your own personal library of information.
Transliterations of the Chinese Acupuncture Point Names with Explanations. This is a supplement to the Modern & Traditional Acupuncture Program. Every single traditional acupuncture point is shown with the point name transliteration (with both new and old – Pinyin and Wade Giles – spellings) along with a full explanation. A Transcript of Dr. Morell’s BioElectronic Vincent Lecture (BEV)
Dr. Franz Morell came to California in July 1982 for one of our ‘German Electro-Acupuncture’ week-long resident training programs, and taught four full days thereof. The session was attended by almost sixty practitioners, who were most pleased to have had the opportunity to learn from him. Besides MORA-Therapy itself, the topic that really caught the attention of those attending was that of Prof. VINCENT’S BIO-ELECTRONIC METHOD (BEV – now known as BE-T-A).
The three-hour lecture and slide presentation by Dr. Morell of West Germany on the subject of Prof. Vincent’s method received a standing ovation, and opened up an entirely new frontier in clinical evaluation and serial therapy control. The method itself is completely objective, and involves no point measurements whatsoever.
THIS OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT of Dr. Franz Morell’s lecture is available from the Institute. It consists of thirty-one pages plus reproductions of his slides – it gives an excellent introduction to this objective bio-electronic testing method (BEV). Dr. Morell took us even further into the BIO-ELECTRONIC “VINCENT” Method during a subsequent seminar and introduced a totally new [at that time] German built instrument for it (by the Med-Tronik company, and Mr. Erich Rasche again!) to this country.
The Ground Regulation System, Prof. Dr. Hartmut Heine
A few years after his serious illness in 2011 Prof. Dr. Hartmut Heine published a series of seven articles on the Ground Regulation System. I [Carolyn Winsor] was honored to be able to translate this incredible research into English for the first time and to publish it in our newsletter, “The Bridge”.
As I worked my way through translation of the first article, the wealth of knowledge and understanding imparted in even that introductory article left me scrambling for dictionaries, research documents hidden away in the old OIRF library and way beyond “Google searches” to make sure that I was doing justice to the information Prof. Dr. Heine was imparting. Combined with the succeeding six further articles, his gift to us of knowledge and of understanding is truly priceless.
In respect for Prof. Heine I have merged those seven articles into one single report and have republished it separate from that older newsletter. With a total of 48 (mind-blowing) pages, this work is not just “worthwhile” reading, but mandatory reading for all practitioners of orthodox and complementary medicine. Available in electronic or print format for $30, here is an outline of the contents:
Part 1 – The Ground Regulation [A History and Background]
Part 2 – GRS as a non-linear system – Structure, function and determined chaos
Part 3 – GRS as a non-linear system
– Structural components of the extracellular matrix (ECM)
Part 4 – Spatial structure of the ECM and material transport within the system
Part 5 – Contact, limitation and clogging up:
Cell adhesion, basal membrane and glycosylation
Part 6 – Functional relations of the ground regulation with the central nervous system
Part 7 – The Ground Regulation and the Circadian Rhythm
– The Ground Regulation and Alzheimer Dementia

Some Personal Comments from Dr. Sturm † . . .
We videotaped the complete seminar portions of my two-part program on “Diagnostics” and “Therapeutics” as held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (Oct./Nov. 1998).
In a radical departure from previous OIRF “no tapes” policy, we offered 30 sets of these videotapes (including all hand-out material) on a limited test market basis. They were quickly bought up – purchasers are absolutely thrilled with them – so we have continued availability.
For more detailed information about those seminars. This information will show you what you missed, if you were unable to attend. There is a mountain of valuable up-to-date clinical information on these tapes, to help ensure a prosperous practice for years to come.
If you could not attend before, now you can by means of these videotapes. You do not even have to take any notes – they are yours for future review or even to train office staff. All that was left out on these videotapes were the actual hands-on workshop sessions, which simply do not lend themselves to videotaping.
Although not professionally recorded, a staff member taped these seminars on video Hi8 masters under almost ideal conditions. I did my utmost to take the camera into consideration at all times, and used a wireless microphone. I have personally viewed each session, and in retrospect am most pleased with recording quality as well as the comprehensiveness of my seminar content.
All tapes are recorded in Standard Play speed on two-hour VHS videocassettes, in the NTSC [North American] television standard. Tapes are not returnable, but any found to be defective ould be replaced within thirty days of purchase. NOTE: All videos now available only in DVD format.
If you are now considering purchase of a MORA-Therapy unit or bioresonance instrument, my “Therapeutics” seminar videotapes would be invaluable!
